Eskimo Soup are designing and printing a 52 page guide book for Occupational Therapists. The joint venture between the College of Occupational Therapists and the National Social Inclusion Programme will deliver a handy guide book to members of the College of Occupational Therapists and is aimed at supporting their clients who currently think they are excluded from work due to a range of barriers in finding, returning to and sustaining work.
The College of Occupational Therapists is a wholly owned subsidiary of BAOT and operates as a registered charity. It represents the profession nationally and internationally, and contributes widely to policy consultations throughout the UK. The College sets the professional and educational standards for occupational therapy. It provides leadership, guidance and information relating to research and development, education, practice and lifelong learning. In addition, 11 accredited specialist sections support expert clinical practice.

The Social Exclusion Unit published its report ‘Mental Health and Social Exclusion' in June 2004. The report's immediate impact is directed at improving the lives of people with mental health problems by reducing or eliminating barriers to employment and wider social participation. However it has great potential also to impact significantly across service areas, client populations and on the health, engagement and economic position of wider communities.
The National Social Inclusion Programme (NSIP) has brought together the work of government departments and other organisations in a concerted effort to challenge attitudes, to enable people to fulfil their aspirations and to significantly improve opportunities and outcomes for people with mental health problems.
